Gleam is my MFA Graphic Design and MS Human-Computer Interaction thesis research. It is a multidisciplinary exploration inspired by the Women, Life, Freedom movement in Iran, to find how traditional Persian art forms can be reimagined through new technologies to amplify silenced voices and encourage global engagement.
Echoes in Light
This installation project uses 3D-printed structures and laser-cut face lanterns based on Persian typography and geometry. It draws on the symbolism of shadow as oppression and light as resilience. The lanterns cast typographic shadows using words gathered from Iranian women, creating an emotional, immersive experience.
Words in Motion
In this interactive projection project, Viewers become part of the message. A digital mirror turns their silhouette into Persian letters, while hand gestures trigger the words “Fight” and “Surrender.” Each interaction controls the typography’s layout and texture, symbolizing emotional states and collective voice.
Social Media Campaign & T-shirt Design
To support the projects and serve as an evolving archive, an Instagram campaign was made. This platform not only documented the process but also offered deeper insight into the inspirations behind the work, including references to traditional Persian arts and cultural symbolism. Through curated visuals, poetry-based textures, and interactive designs, the campaign extended the narrative beyond the physical installations.
As part of the campaign, a series of T-shirts was designed to explore themes of censorship and visibility. Some featured hidden messages that only appeared under black light, symbolizing the suppressed voices that persist beneath the surface. These wearable pieces turned everyday clothing into quiet acts of resistance.
Gleam is not just a thesis, it’s a call to action through art. It bridges tradition and innovation, creating new forms of visual resistance rooted in culture, identity, and the fight for freedom.
